#MySexySaturday 155: My Sexy Reunion

What's your idea of SexyLong time no blog, eh?

I’m on vacation from the day job this week, so I have nothing but time to do all the things I want to do more often—and that includes jumping into this week’s My Sexy Saturday blog hop.

This week’s theme is “My Sexy Reunion”—and I can think of no more appropriate reunion than that of Dave and Melinda in Diva in the Dugout. Here, they renew their carnal acquaintance five years after a one-night stand made them parents—a fact of which Dave remains unaware for nearly five years.

Enjoy!

***

Diva In The Dugout | Arlene Hittle“Mom knew me better than I knew myself, because I was already on my way to life in the slow lane. Another woman changed me, Mel.” His voice dropped. The gentle stroke of his thumb against her cheek fluttered her already-faltering heartbeat. “I never forgot the blonde bombshell who left me in the middle of the night.”

The husky declaration melted her last shreds of resistance. If he truly had never forgotten her, maybe they could have a happily-ever-after like her parents. Mel wanted so much to believe that. She needed to believe. She leaned into his caress, then closed the gap between them and brushed her lips to his.

Strong fingers threaded through her hair, and he deepened the kiss. Memories rushed back, memories of how strong she’d been all those years ago. How fearless. How easily they fit together, like two halves of one whole. So hot—and so right.

She wanted that again.

A whimper escaped from deep within her. From a place only one man—this man—had ever touched. Dave’s tongue stilled.

“Don’t stop now,” she murmured.

Mischief danced in his eyes. “I wasn’t planning to.” In one smooth motion, he slid one hand under her blouse and undid her bra.

#MySexySaturday: Sexy Today

LynnSexySaturday_bannerTime for another My Sexy Saturday. Since I’m not feeling terribly sexy today, I’ll just let my characters do the talking.

This snippet is from a still-untitled work-in-progress, but it’s the steamiest thing I’ve written in months.

Enjoy!

***

Luis hooked his fingers on either side of the panties and pulled them off. Then he unclasped the bra to free her breasts. She still faced the window, and it served him a perfect reflection of her gloriously naked body.

God, she was gorgeous. No question that little Randi Vega had grown into one hell of a sexy woman. And, for tonight at least, she was all his.

Her forehead creased and her hands slammed onto her hips, the movement jiggling her breasts. “If this is your idea of hard and fast, we might have a problem.”

A tiny smile played at the corners of her mouth, so the comment didn’t annoy him. He merely grinned again and cupped her breasts. They were heavy in his palms. Ripe. He gently pinched one taut nipple.

“You really think we have a problem, Randi?”

He rolled the other nipple between his thumb and finger, plumping it. Priming it. When she arched back, thrusting her chest against his palms and grinding against his pelvis, he whirled her to face him. He scraped his teeth over the plump bead. Closed his lips over it and began to suckle.

“N-n-n-no.” Randi’s answer was half sigh, half moan. “No problem at all.”

#MySexySaturday: Talk sexy to me

It’s Saturday! And, for most folks, it’s the start of a long weekend.

My weekend started Friday, and I have to work Sunday. However, I plan to enjoy my Monday off. I’m also taking Wednesday off so I can road-trip to Phoenix to see Kristan Higgins. In addition to being a motivating speaker (click for her 2013 RWA keynote speech that brought me to tears), Kristan is one of my favorite writers. So when I heard she was going to be at Changing Hands Bookstore on Sept. 9, I had to figure out how to make the trip on what would usually be a work night.

Of course, Saturday means it’s time for My Sexy Saturday — and with it being a long weekend, you have more time to enjoy perusing all the snippets.

LynnSexySaturday_bannerThis week’s theme:

We know that lovers have a special language that only two of them share. The hidden looks, the longing gaze, the love shining in their eyes all accompanied by those sexy, sexy words. Sometimes, they are whispered, sometimes spoken aloud and occasionally shouted from rooftops. Authors are very good at those sexy conversations. We love sexy and it’s always so fun to share.

If you don’t mind, I’m going to share one more excerpt from BEAUTY AND THE BALLPLAYER, which is included in Turquoise Morning Press’ UNFORGETTABLE HEROES II boxed set. The 13-book collection is only 99 cents through Labor Day, and then it’ll be available at its regular price of $6.99. (That’s still a bargain for 13 stories, if you ask me…)

Back to my snippet. In this scene, Dave and a couple of his teammates are at the local bar when Meg and her friend walk in and invite themselves to play pool. After the game, Meg and Matt start chatting … er, flirting … She has just finished accusing his friend of distracting the competition, to which Matt replies that he can vouch that “Dex” has a good heart.

***

Beauty and the Ballplayer | Arlene Hittle“Dave said something similar about you.” Meg wasn’t going to share why Dave had said it. Matt didn’t need to know she’d been checking out his butt.

Her sudden silence didn’t keep Matt from raising an eyebrow in inquiry. “Oh?”

“He said you’re a great guy.”

Matt chuckled. “He’s right, you know. I am a great guy.”

“Oh yeah? If you’re such a fantastic catch, why hasn’t some other girl reeled you in?” Immediately, she wished she hadn’t offered such a quick comeback. What was it about this guy that made her speak first and think later?

But Matt didn’t look offended; he was merely amused. “Maybe because no one has dangled the right bait.”

Meg opened her mouth to reply and then clamped it shut. She wasn’t going to ask what bait he was waiting for, because that would imply she cared. And since she wasn’t in the market for a new man—great kisser or not—she didn’t.

#MySexySaturday: Sexy Has It

LynnSexySaturday_bannerOMG, guys! UNFORGETTABLE HEROES’ Release week has been a whirlwind, with lots of successes along the way. More on that in my Manic Monday post. Right now, it’s time for My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: Sexy Has It.

From the My Sexy Saturday blog:

We all know sexy has it. As authors, we define ‘it’ every day and write those wonderful, sexy scenes. Sexy has sexy, sexy has love, sexy has wonderful. Sexy has the power to change world, set people free and everything in between. Sexy is just right and good and oh, so fun to share.

Since I’m still celebrating this week’s release of Unforgettable Heroes II, I’m giving you another snippet from BEAUTY AND THE BALLPLAYER, my contribution to the 13-book boxed set.

Beauty and the Ballplayer | Arlene HittleIn this scene, Matt has rushed Meg out of the hotel lobby before she can figure out people are starting to snap his picture. (He’s still trying to keep her from finding out he plays ball for a living, and has just roped his brother, Stan, into pretending his hotel room belonged to the stylist, not him. Matt used his brother’s mad skills with a pair of shears to convince Meg to have dinner with him.) And Meg is still fighting to put her baby’s best interests first.

Happy reading!

***

Meg was breathless when Matt cursed and released his hold on her. She had no idea why he’d kissed her, or why he’d abruptly stopped and put six feet of space between them.

“What was that?”

Matt was also out of breath. She watched him take a few deep breaths before answering. “Sorry. It won’t happen again.”

“What if I want it to happen again?”

The words flew out of her mouth before she could censor them. The moment they left her lips, Meg wished she could take them back. She’d just met this guy, for God’s sake. It was too early to be confessing that she wanted him to jump her bones—especially when his brother stood just feet away. What was it about this family that made her feel so at home?

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” Damn hormones were making her horny and brainless. Even if it were the truth, she had no business getting involved with Matt. Or anyone, really. The baby needed to be her number one priority.

Matt smiled at her. “But I’m glad you did.”

#MySexySaturday: That sexy time of day

LynnSexySaturday_bannerIs there a time of day that’s sexier than the rest? Not for the characters I create. For them, any time is sexy time. If they have a modicum of privacy and a place to get reasonably horizontal, they do.

Personally, I feel decidedly UNsexy in the morning. Ever seen that Facebook meme that says “If he really loves you, he’ll let you sleep?” Yeah. That.

But My Sexy Saturday isn’t about me; it’s about my Eveready characters. Someone—namely me—makes sure their batteries are always fully charged. 😉

This week, I’m sharing another seven-line snippet from Beauty and the Ballplayer, which is being re-released Tuesday as part of Turquoise Morning Press’ Unforgettable Heroes II boxed set.

Salsa dancing on Heritage Square is a thing in Flagstaff—I know, because I went a couple of times. I had a blast, so when it came time for Meg and Matt to do something fun in Flagstaff, I picked Salsa on the Square. In this scene, they’ve been dancing long enough for Meg to call him on the “I’m not much of a dancer” line he’d fed her before the music began.

What can I say? I like my guys without an ego the size of Texas.

Happy reading!

***

Beauty and the Ballplayer | Arlene HittleAs she suspected, Matt was a much better dancer than he’d let on. She was the one who had trouble getting the steps right while he moved as if he’d been born to a Latin beat.

“Two left feet, my ass,” she muttered after stumbling for what seemed like the thousandth time in five minutes.

Even as his eyebrows shot up, Matt tightened his grip on her waist to steady her. “You caught me.”

Unfazed by his sheepish expression, Meg giggled. “I didn’t think you’d be a bad dancer.”

“Just call it the curse of being a natural athlete. I’m good at everything I do.”

Whether he’d intended it or not, the comment conjured a distinct picture in her mind. It produced another shiver and her breath caught in her throat. “Everything?”

When he nodded, the shiver doubled in strength. Meg had no doubt he was telling the truth this time. Matt would be amazing at anything he tried—in or out of bed.

#MySexySaturday: My Sexy Boyfriend

LynnSexySaturday_bannerWelcome to the My Sexy Saturday blog hop. Long time no see, eh?

I’ve been alternately working the day job (which takes up more energy than I’d like, even though I work 5 fewer hours a week than I did in Flagstaff), hiding out in my writing cave (halfway through a new Love & Baseball short!) and preparing for the release of Turquoise Morning Press’ UNFORGETTABLE HEROES II boxed set, of which BEAUTY AND THE BALLPLAYER is a part.

This week’s theme is “My Sexy Boyfriend,” and I’m in luck—or maybe it’s you, the readers, who are in luck. Matt, BEAUTY’s hero, is outstanding boyfriend material.

Oh sure, he’s a tad hesitant to commit—and once he does, he battles an overbearing streak. Even with his flaws, he’s an improvement over Meg’s ex-boyfriend. (That one dumped her to join the professional poker circuit, before he had any idea she was pregnant. He wrote a terse goodbye note on the back of the receipt for her birth control prescription.)

Here’s an excerpt that showcases the difference between Matt and the ex. Enjoy!

***

Beauty and the Ballplayer | Arlene Hittle“Meg wouldn’t have sent someone looking for me if everything was fine.”

Matt didn’t bother to hide his astonishment that Tim could speak more than two words at once. “She didn’t send me.”

“Then why are you here?”

Whoa. Five whole words this time. He’d have to work harder than that to break his last-sentence record of twelve. Matt took another moment to debate with himself before answering. “I thought you deserved to know.”

“Know what?”

The guy had a right to know he was about to be a father, no matter how despicable—or illiterate—he might be. Matt took a deep breath. “Meg’s pregnant.”

Tim dipped his head so the hat again hid his eyes, but Matt caught a glimmer of something he didn’t like before the shade fell. “Not mine.”

#MySexySaturday: Our Sexy Man

LynnSexySaturday_bannerHappy Saturday! I try not to get political here—not because I have no opinions about what’s going on in the world but because I write to entertain readers, not preach my worldview. No doubt, readers could care less how I feel about gun control, Confederate flag-waving—or any flag-waving, for that matter—and same-sex unions.

However, I can’t let the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage go unremarked. Love is love. Period. And on Friday, love won.

Thanks, SCOTUS, for joining the new millennium. I’m proud that, in the words of President Obama, the court’s ruling has “made our union is a little more perfect.”

“This decision affirms what millions of Americans already believe in their hearts,” Obama said. “When all Americans are treated as equal, we are all more free.”

In honor of the court’s decision, I’m sharing a snippet from BEAUTY AND THE BALLPLAYER for My Sexy Saturday this week. Matt Thatcher, the hero of BEAUTY, has a brother who happens to be gay. (He’s also a stylist, which a few judges dinged me for when BEAUTY was making the contest rounds. Too stereotypical, they said…but in my mind, at least, Stan is a well-rounded guy. If I didn’t convey that…well, that’s on me.)

In this scene, it’s the morning after Matt and Meg have sex for the first time. Matt, in the heat of the moment, told her it didn’t matter that she was pregnant…but now he’s having second thoughts. In a panic, he calls his brother Stan, who already knew Meg’s secret because she’d told him in the stylist’s chair.  Stan, ever a straight-shooter, wastes no time laying into Matt: “Oh God. Tell me you didn’t feed her some line so you could sleep with her.”

Happy reading!

***

Beauty and the Ballplayer | Arlene Hittle

Stan’s reaction stunned him into silence. That’s exactly what he’d done, even if he hadn’t been conscious of it at the time. When he rediscovered his voice, he asked, “Why would that be so terrible?”

“That girl needs a man with staying power you have yet to demonstrate.”

Stan’s accusation hit him with the power of a 105 mph fastball, and Matt sank to the floor again. His butt hit the carpet with a soft “thunk.” His brother was right. These days, his relationships lasted no longer than Greg’s.

“Please tell me you’re still in the same room with her. Meg’ll feel abandoned all over again if you’re not there when she wakes up.”

Odd that Stan was more concerned about Meg than his own flesh and blood. “Are you forgetting who you’re related to? I’m your brother.”

Stan’s silence spoke volumes. Wondering how he managed to convey such strong disapproval without saying a word, Matt sighed. “I’m in the hallway outside the room. Does that count?”

“Barely.” Stan sniffed. “I suggest you get back in there, pronto.”

#MySexySaturday: A Good Ole Sexy Time

LynnSexySaturday_bannerDare I say this week’s My Sexy Saturday theme is right up my alley?

This week’s theme is A Good Ole Sexy Time and think about things like the Dukes of Hazzard or maybe Nashville or the Appalachian Mountains. This week is about…well…normal people. You know, the boys next door, the good ole boys, the boys of summer and everything in between. There is nothing more sexy than a man at the beach or getting done with his chores or doing his best at any task.

Fun—and I have just the snippet.

Blind Date Bride | Arlene HittleIn this scene from BLIND DATE BRIDE, Kari is grappling with her new reality. She and Damien, her faux husband of less than a week, have ceded the spare room she was planning to sleep in to the camera crew that will be taping their every move for a new series they’ve agreed to. Thus she finds herself reluctantly sharing his bed.

Damien is about the most normal guy I’ve ever had the pleasure of having in my head. (His buddy Cody is a close second.) He’s a veterinarian, a one-time band geek (trumpet), retired Casanova (he went a little crazy in college when he started running and playing tennis and grew into his gangly body) and armchair psychologist.

Enjoy!

***

“Stop looking at me like you’re on a diet and I’m a hot fudge sundae!” she snapped at him.

Damien rolled his eyes. “You think you’re that irresistible, huh?”

“Well,” Kari began. More concerned with her own response to the look he was giving her, she hadn’t considered how conceited the complaint would make her sound.

“Because I have news for you, sweetheart, I can resist. No problem.”

She stood and sat on the edge of Damien’s bed opposite him, but not before scowling at him. “You don’t have to be such a jerk about it.”

He glowered right back. “Why shouldn’t I be? You’re basically saying you don’t trust me to keep my hands to myself, right?”

“Uh—”

“Because I’ve never had to force my attentions on an unwilling woman before, and I don’t intend to start anytime soon. So until you decide you want my hands on you, you have nothing to worry about.”

#MySexySaturday: Our Sexy Galaxy

LynnSexySaturday_bannerThis week’s My Sexy Saturday theme, Our Sexy Galaxy, begs for another dip into my sci-fi comedy romance manuscript. You might remember the story of a human from another planet who falls in love with an Earth woman and stows away aboard the Space Shuttle to get to her. However, because I’m not sure which box it’s buried in after my move, I’ll have to settle for seven sexy sentences from something I can lay my hands on.

Oooh — I know. Let’s delve into BREAKING ALL THE RULES, my tribute to Star Trek fans everywhere. I know I used the word “galaxy” in that story at least once.

A tenuous connection, sure. But I’ll take it!

In this scene, Allyson and Van meet in the Walmart parking lot so she can follow him to the hiking spot he’s suggested for their interview. She’s evaluating him for the Klingon interpreter position she must fill, but refused to ride in his car.  Her insistence on driving herself, paired with the fact that she drives a Volvo prompts Van to tease her about being a “safety girl.”

***

Breaking all the Rules | Arlene Hittle“Well, hop back in your safe little car and follow me down the switchbacks. The hiking spot I have in mind has great views—and I packed a picnic in case we get hungry.”

“I just had breakfast.” Unless they’d be hiking up the side of a cliff, the Cheerios, strawberries and milk she had every weekday morning would fuel her through lunch, no problem.

“I did, too. But two jelly-filled donuts won’t stick with me long.”

Donuts? She imagined the sticky-sweet jam exploding on her tongue, and her mouth watered. How long had it been since she’d enjoyed a donut? Too long.

Cheerios, fruit and milk were a perfectly balanced breakfast.

Perfectly boring, too.

Allyson banished the rogue thought and smiled at Donovan. “The sooner we get started, the sooner you can get to your lunch.”

#MySexySaturday 93: My Sexy Love

I’ve been doing well to remember My Sexy Saturday every couple of weeks. However, now that I’m finally settled in (ha!) to my new place, maybe I’ll get back in the habit.

Have I mentioned how much moving sucks?

Anyway — let’s move on to the sexy stuff, because that’s a lot more fun than unpacking boxes and trying to find new homes for all the stuff I probably should have left behind.

LynnSexySaturday_bannerThis week’s sexy seven paragraphs is from JUST RIGHT, my grown-up Goldilocks tale starring Callie Golding and three contractor brothers by the name of Behr.

Not coincidentally, JUST RIGHT is set for re-release in Turquoise Morning Press’ “And They Lived Happily Ever After” boxed set May 26. It’s been available as a standalone since early April, but now it’s coming out with its brethren in a beautiful collection of modern fairy tales.

Happily Ever After Boxed Set-3D

Beside him, Callie’s breath caught. “Oh, Ty! It’s gorgeous.”

Just Right | Arlene Hittle“Nature at its finest,” he agreed. Except he wasn’t looking at the scenery. He focused on the woman at his side. Perfection. She was everything he wanted—fun-loving, fierce, humorous, handy.

Out of your league.

As if Callie could read his thoughts and wanted to prove him wrong, her head turned and her chin lifted. Her lips parted.

Ty would have to be a fool to ignore the clear invitation—and Will Behr hadn’t raised a fool. He angled his head to capture her lips. At the same time, he settled his hands on her hips. She willingly melted into him, her kiss both sweet and hot.

He groaned and pulled her closer still. Their tongues warred, battling for control, until Ty was dizzy from wanting her. Afraid he’d do something unmanly, like fall on his ass, he eased away. “Ah, Callie.”

Laughter danced in her eyes. “I know I wasn’t doing it wrong.”

JUST RIGHT is available now at Turquoise Morning PressAmazonBarnes & NobleKoboiTunesAll Romance eBooks and Smashwords. Or add it to your TBR list on Goodreads. And starting May 26, get all six of TMPress’ modern fairy tales for one low price.
