Sliding into Home is a hit

Pardon the pun, but I was poking around in my reviews not too long ago, and found that SLIDING INTO HOME has some quite good ones.

Anyway, I made a graphic to share some of the nice things folks have been saying about the third book in my All Is Fair In Love and Baseball series.

Praise for Sliding Into Home #romance #baseball

My Sexy Saturday: No carriages here

Because I write contemporary romantic comedy, my books have no carriage sex. There are a few sexy moments in cars — but the scene I’m featuring for this week’s My Sexy Saturday post isn’t one of those, either.

This scene is from SLIDING INTO HOME, Book 3 of my All Is Fair in Love & Baseball series, published by Turquoise Morning Press. I went the short route this time — only 7 sentences. The better to share it in a fun, pinnable quote card!

Let the blog tour begin

BlogTourLogoTo celebrate the release of my third book, SLIDING INTO HOME, I’m embarking on my first blog tour.

I’ve enlisted the wonderful Alex Rosa of Wanderlust Book Tours to run it and keep me organized—no small feat, let me tell you. Somehow the gal who used to turn in papers two weeks early in college now bumps up against every deadline she meets. (You can read my lament on that subject here.)

She created this gorgeous banner (currently my Facebook Author Page header).

What’s Beyond Forks?

Stop by for chances to win free ebooks or a fabulous gift basket that includes an autographed print copy of DIVA IN THE DUGOUT (All Is Fair in Love & Baseball 1), as well as $5 gift cards to Dunkin’ Donuts and Amazon, baseball-themed trinkets, an iPhone 5 case with my logo and some Cracker Jacks. (Gotta have snacks while reading, right?)

Sliding Gift Basket | Arlene HittleI picked up the basket at Safeway before Easter, thinking it’d be perfect for the giveaway. Only when I snapped this photo for Alex did I notice the typo, front and center.

What the heck is a “perfert game”?

Further proof, if any was needed, that everyone needs a proofreader. 😀

What happens in Vegas stays there, right?

Not when it’s your first visit to Olympic Garden and you have a snap-happy roommate.

VegasNo, seriously. I didn’t mind her taking photos, because I was having fun—and I looked fantastic. That was me nine years and about a hundred pounds ago. (Side note: I really need to go back on a low-carb diet.) I had some more fun playing with Photoshop effects. This one’s called “neon glow.”

Just Contemporary RomanceI’m blogging at Just Contemporary Romance today, talking about my Las Vegas vacations—all three of them, including the one that involved a trip to the Strip’s famed Olympic Garden strip club. It was all for research. Pinky swear.

So what if it was nine years ago—long before I started writing my Love & Baseball series? One of the characters in another, still unpublished series is a sports reporter who moonlights as a male stripper.

See? Research!

Now that I’ve written Sliding into Home, in which Greg thinks Jenn is a stripper, the strip club experience is paying off again.

Drop by Just Contemporary Romance and share your Vegas adventures … if you dare.

Where to find Sliding Into Home

Please allow me to present my newest book baby, Sliding into Home

Ta-da!

Sliding into Home | Arlene HittleThis is Book 3 in my All Is Fair In Love and Baseball series, and it tackles Arizona Condors first baseman Greg Bartlesby’s story. (You knew there had to be a good reason for his run-in with the law in Diva in the Dugout, right? Here’s where you find out why he acts the way he does.)

The blurb:

Will a sexy attorney help the Condors’ rebel first baseman outrun his father’s shadow—or merely strip him of his illusions?

More than anything, Arizona Condors first baseman Greg Bartlesby wants to make his own name in the big leagues. Too bad being the son of MLB legend Jake “Big Man” Bartlesby makes that impossible. Even worse? His attempts to differentiate himself from his old man more often land him in legal trouble. His latest brush with the law brings him in contact with an attorney he’s met before—as a dancer at the club where he was arrested…for protecting her.

Jenn Simpson isn’t a stripper—not that she can convince her bonehead client her twin is the one doing the dancing. When Greg offers her sister a job at his father’s Foundation, Jenn is the one who accepts, at her sister’s urging. She soon discovers she likes the work—and her new boss. As she and Greg forge a friendship and more, she knows it’s time to convince him she’s not who he thinks. But when his father’s hospitalization compels Greg to fast-track his leap to the majors by capitalizing on Big Jake’s fame, it might be too late for her to expunge the record.

Here’s one of my favorite passages, from near the beginning of the book:

Sliding into Home cover reveal

OK, OK. Technically, it’s not a reveal. You’ve probably already seen it on Facebook and/or Twitter, but now I’m plastering it here, on my blog: The cover for my April release from Turquoise Morning Press.

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

I love Jenn’s striking eyes. You can certainly see why her sister took Jade as a stage name.

SLIDING INTO HOME (until recently known as Untitled Book 3) comes out in mid-April. I can’t wait to share Greg and Jenn’s story.

Here’s a sneak peek:

More than anything, Arizona Condors first baseman Greg Bartlesby wants to make his own name in the big leagues. Too bad being the son of MLB legend Jake “Big Man” Bartlesby makes that impossible. Even worse? His attempts to differentiate himself from his old man more often land him in legal trouble. As she and Greg forge a friendship and more, she knows it’s time to convince him she’s not who he thinks. But when his father’s hospitalization compels Greg to fast-track his leap to the majors by capitalizing on Big Jake’s fame, it might be too late for her to come clean.

A little Monday Motivation …

Today must be the day for motivating thoughts, because this Ruby Slippered Sisterhood blog post also has me thinking: What I really want to say on Twitter by Liz Talley.

I’m pretty sure that’s what every author really wants to say on Twitter (and everywhere else), but can’t. “Look at me! Look at me!” gets really old, fast.

An endless stream of RT’s of fellow authors’ books, all at once — bang, bang, bang — also doesn’t cut it. That’s why I use Buffer to space out my tweets.

Liz also talks about planting butt in chair to write the next book, which is something I need to get back to doing. With releases coming from TMP in March and April, as well as plans to self-pub in June, I haven’t written any new words in too long. Been self-editing BLIND DATE BRIDE and prepping for the release of BEAUTY AND THE BALLPLAYER and SLIDING INTO HOME (formerly Untitled Book 3).

Speaking of SLIDING INTO HOME, I don’t think I’ve shared the cover on my blog yet. Look for it later this week.

At least Saturday’s plot group meeting got my creative juices going again. I now have some ideas for a fourth Love & Baseball story, thanks to some brainstorming with the NARWA crew. I’ll be back to banging out new words in no time.

Making my Fresh Fiction debut

Good morning! It is a very good morning, even if you’re waking to snow and subzero temperatures. If you are, please stay warm and dry.

It’s not exactly warm here in northern Arizona, either. I’m in the mountains, not the Valley of the Sun, where 60 degrees is considered “jacket weather.” Still, the ground is (for now) snow-free, and daytime temps have been reaching the high 40s and mid-50s.

Temperatures like that are enough to make you start thinking about baseball, right? Heh. Who am I kidding? I’m always thinking about baseball these days. That’s what happens when you write stories about men who play the game.

In fact, spring training is right around the corner. The Cactus League comes to Arizona in mid-February, and the D-backs report to training camp even earlier than that.

Because baseball season is almost upon us, I’m at Fresh Fiction today, blogging about my Boys of Summer, the men of the Arizona Condors. I had fun getting them to answer a bunch lightning-round questions.

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 12.21.17 PMThis is my first visit to Fresh Fiction, but I hope it won’t be my last!
